Carotene ( Vitamin A) Rich Source For Your Eyes And Skin

Carotene is a type of provitamin A that is found in many fruits and vegetables. Some of the richest sources of carotene (especially beta-carotene, which the body can convert into vitamin A) include:

1. Carrots

2. Sweet Potatoes

3. Pumpkins

4. Spinach

5. Kale

6. Butternut Squash

7. Cantaloupe

8. Mangoes

9. Red and Yellow Bell Peppers

10. Collard Greens

The richest sources of carotene, specifically beta-carotene, include:

1. Carrots:

   - Carrots are one of the top sources, with about 9,000 to 15,000 micrograms of beta-carotene per 100 grams (depending on the variety). This is a very high concentration.

2. Sweet Potatoes:

   - Sweet potatoes contain approximately 8,500 to 12,000 micrograms of beta-carotene per 100 grams.

3. Pumpkins:

   - Pumpkins have around 6,000 to 9,000 micrograms of beta-carotene per 100 grams, making them another excellent source.

Among these, carrots are often considered the richest source, but the actual carotene content can vary based on the variety and preparation. For example, cooking can sometimes enhance the bioavailability of carotenoids like beta-carotene.

These foods are excellent for promoting good vision, immune health, and skin health due to their high beta-carotene content.
